[読んだ] iPod Touch Users Download 80% More Apps Than iPhone Owners (AAPL, GOOG)

Apple's (AAPL) iPod touch owners download significantly more apps per month than iPhone owners and Google (GOOG) Android phone owners, according to survey results released this morning by AdMob, a mobile ad network.

This could seem unexpected, as you might think that iPod touch buyers would download fewer apps than iPhone owners -- and would be more likely to use the device as an iPod, and not an app gadget. (One reason: The iPod touch has more limited access to the Internet, which limits when you can download apps and use some of them.)

But perhaps the abundance of free (and cheap) games, popular with iPod touch owners -- especially younger ones -- makes up the difference. That 22% of iPod touch owners say they download "more than 20" free apps a month is particularly telling. (And as commenters mention, many iPhone owners probably use the iPhone as a phone more than they do with the iPod touch, which makes perfect sense.)

Electronista | iPod classic, nano, touch to get 3.2MP cameras?

How the camera system will work is unknown. It's suspected that only the iPod touch will have video recording features due to both its touchscreen and the fast processor, but all should at least have the option of taking photos.

[読んだ] iPod touch, nano and classic will gain 3.2MP cameras - report | 9 to 5 Mac

Apple’s next-generation iPods - including the iPod touch, nano and classic - will carry 3.2 megapixel cameras supplied by Taiwan’s, OmniVision.

As 9to5Mac reported last week, the new generation iPods are expected to be introduced at an Apple special event on September 9

Reports this morning claim OmniVision has secured CMOS image sensor (CIS) orders for the upcoming products.

It will supply “3.2-megapixel CIS products for the new iPod nano, iPod classic and iPod touch models which will be launched in September,”  sources claim.

The company is one of the 3.2-megapixel CIS suppliers for the iPhone 3GS and is expected to ship 18 million CIS products to Apple per quarter.

Apple is also expected to introduce a new version of iTunes, equipped with social networking features including the capacity to depatch songs played to Facebook, iLike and Last.fm. The new software is also expected to support direct import of Digital Copy movies from Blu-ray discs. Some speculate on updates to the Apple TV at the event.

Inkvaders is a relatively standard side-scrolling shooter in the same realm as Zombieville USA. In fact, Inkvaders is Zombieville USA, just better… and so much prettier. Have I mentioned how good this game looks? The basic premise is that you walk forward through the level killing aliens and collecting money for new guns to… you guessed it… kill aliens. Why are you killing aliens? Because you are a man, and that’s what men do!

Reading RSS feeds in your Google Reader (Google Reader) is fine, but sometimes we feel like RSS could be a lot more dynamic, not to mention less time-consuming. We have habits and tendencies. We like to read stories about certain things and skip others. Some of us love Twitter, others prefer news about iPhone development. Why can’t these RSS readers read our minds and give us what we want? The my6sense iPhone app does essentially that. The app, which has been stuck in the limbo of
Apple’s archaic review process for weeks, has finally made its debut in the iPhone App Store. Along with being a solid mobile RSS reader, my6sense monitors what you read and uses that info to generate a customized feed of articles you’ll want to read.

Video Music and Gamez - DS Double Sys 1.0 iPhone iPod Touch

Selling a virtual DS for the iPhone without the permission of Nintendo is risky business. Being able to do a good job with it is just plain hard. DS Double Sys is an iPhone copy of Nintendo’s highly popular handheld device. It pays attention to detail and feels just right, but is hurt by a lack of content. The obvious concept behind DS Double Sys is to create a DS “emulator” of sorts that works on your iPhone. When you open the app, you are presented with a closed DS and menu with options to change the color of the system, power the device on, and read the manual. To open and close the device, you simply double tap the top case or screen. The layout is identical to the DS, but the developer made a great design choice in only utilizing the bottom touch screen to control it. The buttons and D-pad can be viewed by sliding your finger across the top screen.

DailyTech - Apple's Steve Jobs Focuses on Making Upcoming Tablet a Hit

The new device is reportedly very important to Apple.  With iPod sales slowing, Apple is looking for a new hit to recharge its lineup and keep the so-called "halo effect" going.  The tablet market -- sparked by Microsoft a decade ago, but with currently only 1.4 percent PC marketshare -- seems an ideal place to start.

Reportedly Apple has been working on a tablet for almost a decade now, first filing a patent in 2000.  Mr. Jobs reportedly killed the project twice due to disappointing battery life among other things.  Now, with the iPhone's development lighting the way, it appears Apple is finally set to green light the device.  According to the WSJ, Apple may be pressured to release its tablet at $499 or less, due to the plethora of Windows and Linux netbooks priced in the same range.

Apple's tremendous secrecy makes it hard to determine fact from fantasy, but its clear that something is afoot in Cupertino.
