iPod touch

To be fair, September is traditionally iPod season for Apple and it's not outlandish to expect some announcements. The most interesting, perhaps, could be that the iPod touch will be overhauled with an integrated camera and a microphone, allowing the company to introduce the voice control technology found on the iPhone 3GS.

If the rumours pan out expect the new iPod touch to arrive in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB varieties with price tags of $199, $299, and $399 respectively. As usual UK pricing will follow.

Just beneath iPod touch on the rumour pecking order, is a likely iTunes update and the introduction of Apple's Project Cocktail. The latter is apparently Apple's attempt to reinvent the album, and will offer a bunch of interactive content including lyric sheets, photos, cover art and liner notes.

値段は従来通りで16GB、32GB、64GBの三種類という情報は初見。

The iPod touch, the iTablet, and the Future of Mobile Gaming
The e-reader market isn't very large right now, and a device that offers ebook capability along with browsing, gaming, and video playback functionality has a good chance to tear a lot of market share out of the Kindle's hide. That's why I tend to think it's likely that the Apple iTablet going to hit stores in the near future. Apple is throwing a lot of money into areas of development that a tablet PC would excel in. Any tablet PC is going to be a substantial risk for the company that releases it, but I think technology has finally advanced enough to make them a viable computing option.

次期iPod touchと噂のApple tabletの出来次第で、携帯ゲーム市場・電子書籍市場の様相が変わるかも知れませんね。

[読んだ] Videos: Probably Fake Apple Tablet In Action. But Awesome.

Simply by Apple’s law of averages, the likelihood that the following two videos are real, is very small. If someone was able to sneak out one video of the Apple Tablet in action, it’d be a miracle, but two? Now you’re just tempting fate. Still, that isn’t stopping Brian Lam of Gizmodo from wondering if there could be something to these (even though his colleague disagrees). And you know what, even if they aren’t real, Apple should consider hiring whoever made them, because this seems like the right idea.

A French teenager has been injured by his girlfriend's exploding iPhone, little more than a week after Apple was accused of trying to suppress news of an exploding iPod Touch.

According to the AFP, Marie-Dominique Kolega contacted Apple after her son was hit by a flying piece of Jobsian status symbol. Apparently, the iPhone made a hissing noise before the screen shattered, sending shards through the air. "My son was frightened but he did not lose an eye," Kolega told AFP.

Apple computers worked on an advertisement at Jax on the Tracks Tuesday afternoon, but because the product they were advertising hadn't been released, members of the group didn't release any information, or allow any photographs.

“Apple found us, they're trying to show us as a hip and cool spot for the 20-something crowd,” Haley said.

[読んだ] Keyboard for Apple tablet already here? | Fully Equipped - CNET Reviews

The only way for an Apple slate-style Netbook to succeed at the price point we're looking at is for it to be a flexible device that can appeal to a wide range of users and usage scenarios. In short, it will be what you want to it to be. (One reader suggests that Apple call it the Omni, which isn't bad).

At home, it will be a media pad you can take to bed with you. On the road, it'll be a Netbook during the day (I'd like to see kickstand on the back) and an e-book reader and video phone at night. At school, students will use it was a digital notepad. In the car, it's a game machine for the kiddies.

Can't you see the Apple ads already?

And one more thing: I'd venture to say that the keyboard (virtual or physical) and stylus won't be the only way to navigate the device or input information. If you've been following what Apple's been doing with voice commands on the Shuffle and iPhone/iPod Touch, it's obviously been experimenting with voice operation as an interface. At some point, you'll not only be able to playback tracks in iTunes (like you can now) with your voice, but you'll be able to open and close applications, browse webpages, dictate email, and do even more.
